After a trial run of reusable cups, Crypto.com Arena never looked back.
After a successful trial run with r.World reusables, AEG-run Crypto.com Arena has announced it’s about to fully eliminate its single-use cups and convert to r.World starting in August.
Not only will this decision keep millions of plastic cups from ending up in landfills every year—it also establishes this downtown Los Angeles arena as an industry leader in sustainable solutions.
We are excited to be the first arena in Southern California to introduce a full-time, reusable-cup program.

After piloting r.World at two nights of sold-out Depeche Mode concerts, the team at Crypto.com saw how easy—and effective—the program could be. In those two nights alone, they kept over 23,000 single-use cups from ending up in the trash and recycling bins, which eliminated the equivalent of 355 pounds of carbon emissions.
“We were sold on their incredible program,” said Lee Zeidman, president of Crypto.com Arena, Peacock Theater, and L.A. LIVE.

Forward-thinking business leaders
The decision to make r.World reusables a permanent part of their fan experience was driven, in part, by Levy, Crypto.com’s hospitality partner, a strong advocate for sustainable solutions, as well as The Coca-Cola Company, AEG’s exclusive beverage partner and a major proponent of r.World.
“Moving to a reusable system is among the most important ways large-scale food and beverage operations can make meaningful short-term impact on the environment,” says Mary McCarthy, Vice President of Sustainability at Levy.
Kurt Ritter, who leads sustainability for The Coca-Cola Company North America, says he’s proud of this decision by the AEG team. “This initiative is a testament to their leadership in sustainability.”
We are thrilled to partner with an industry leader like r.World.

Making good on their sustainability pledge
As two AEG-owned venues, Crypto.com Arena and Peacock Theater are both working toward an ambitious sustainability pledge. Zeidman says converting to r.World reusables will bring them closer to achieving it.
“We’re thrilled to launch reuse permanently at Crypto.com Arena and Peacock Theater,” said Michael Martin, Founder & CEO of r.World. “Not only are they one of the world’s busiest and influential venues, but they are also a sustainability pioneer.”
Crypto.com will start implementing r.World reusables in August, and by the time the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings’ and NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers’ kick off their 2024 seasons, all beverages at all home games will be served in r.World reusable cups.
